Psychology taught Dr. Anita to be a listener, and from listening to women and combining multicultural myths, ancient legends, and folktales she teaches women how to discover and address the issues behind their negative attitudes toward food.
As women, goddesses of the earth, mothers, wives, and sisters we often experience challenges with our weight, our bodies, and more importantly our relationship with food. All of a sudden, food and nutrition has all of these negative connotations through our own comparisons and triggers that we focus solely on food as the problem. When the underlying issues can be avoidance of emotions, past traumas, abuse, and culprits of our inner worlds.
In this episode, Dr. Anita Johnston discusses how there are different forms of hunger, between the physical body’s hunger for nutrition and the soul’s hunger for activation, attention, sensations, and more. She further guides us to what questions to ask in order to recognize the feelings we might not want to feel and therefore we suppress them through eating or avoiding food altogether.
